E v1.0.36 works for me on Ubuntu 9.04 with wine.  I&#039;m on a 32 bit system. I found that the bottom pop-up menus don&#039;t work, and I had to copy over my e.cfg file from the following location into my wine C drive.

I use E as my primary text-editor, and have been waiting to be able to run it under Linux.  In the past I tried to run E under Wine and it worked, but gave an error every time you opened a file.

When I learned about the open version I spent much time trying to meet it&#039;s dependencies and and compile it... with no luck.

Finally I thought there is a newer release, maybe I&#039;ll try it under Wine. Victory!
