Don’t you guys like gEdit? It’s not as nice as e but at least it runs fine on linux

I am sure things have changed now .. there is a linux version release expected soon as per their blog .. I am also waiting for the fixes to happen .. so that I can update my entry here

Wow. That comment was horrible. I meant to say:

E v1.0.36 works for me on Ubuntu 9.04 with wine. I’m on a 32 bit system. I found that the bottom pop-up menus don’t work, and I had to copy over my e.cfg file from the following location into my wine C drive.

Documents and Settings/username/Application Data/e

wine v1.0.26 works fine for me on Wine and 9.04 32bit

I have never used e under wine .. will try it out

Will try Geany .. though it has snippets .. dono how good it is .. I used e just because I like TextMate bundles ..

Give Geany a try. I was stuck using Notepad++ on wine myself until I found it – and it’s definitely better.

E-TextEditor 1.035 runs under Wine.

I use E as my primary text-editor, and have been waiting to be able to run it under Linux. In the past I tried to run E under Wine and it worked, but gave an error every time you opened a file.

When I learned about the open version I spent much time trying to meet it’s dependencies and and compile it… with no luck.

Finally I thought there is a newer release, maybe I’ll try it under Wine. Victory!

So, spend the Money, save the Time.
